Keeping you informed every step of the way means you’re across the various stages of the project, including when changes are needed and why. Providing clarity through sharing clear information as and when you need it, is something we pride ourselves on and what has helped us build continuous trust with everyone we work with. It’s about more than a new house, new space or renovation; it’s about transforming your creative ideas into a vision you’ll love and want to spend time in.
Our process at KiR is to help you think about your ultimate vision for the space you want to transform. You must ultimately love it and want to spend time in it. That’s why we work closely with you to try out ideas using different designs to choose a concept you’re going to be delighted with. We not only work with you to test out ideas and design concepts but work with relevant regulatory authorities to ensure we can achieve the vision you have. Whatever creative ideas you hold, our goal is to help you bring those to life.
Experimentation.
It’s about preserving and paying homage to old features while simultaneously creating something new and fresh
Existing features can be transformed into something new with some building tweaks, nips and tucks. Putting a unique spin on a standard design or using non-standard metals or flipping a design on its head are some of the ways we help our clients experiment with idea designs. We are ‘out-of-the-box’ thinkers and therefore always open to experimenting with before dismissing any ideas. We love preserving old features to pay homage to history or new structures to create revolutionary or complimentary spaces for those of you who dream in broader, artistic strokes.

About Kathy
KiR Architecture represents the blend of my Malaysian background and the diversity of my studying experience in Australia. I formed the company to explore my enthusiasm for architectural philosophy from a diverse cultural perspective.
When I was younger, I thought I’d follow in my dad’s footsteps and become an engineer, but my early love of art, drawing and beautiful spaces won out. Learning technical drawing in high school complimented my interest in art and eye-catching spaces and led me down the hallways of Architecture.
While completing my master’s in architecture, I honed my practical skills in drawing preparations (schematic, contract documents and construction), first as a graduate architect at James Deans and later growing my career at companies like Michael Carr, Silver Thomas Hanley and GHD Woodhead.
I’m an ‘outside the box thinker’ and love working with people who do the same, so I encourage my clients to hold to their visions even if it’s somewhat outside of the norm and work creatively with them to bring their visions to life.
Parallel to my work in architecture, I am following a particularly ‘outside the box’ path in my personal life through rigorous training in competitive cross-country skiing and am currently registered as a FIS skier. This type of training, much like visionary architectural spaces, involves boundary-pushing, a willingness to have a go and remaining steadfast in a vision.
